Well, folks, here we are. Smack dab in the middle of fall. The kids are back at school, the routine is established, the weather gets cooler, the days get shorter and beers at the taproom just seem like such a good idea! So, we have some fun things planned for you and your family. October brings the next seasonal beer can release, a new all local ingredient beer, food trucks, pop ups, flower arranging, and even a brewery bar crawl. All you have to do is show up. We’ve got the rest covered. See you soon!

Thursday, October 3 – Squash Porter Can Release – 4-10pm
Our search for local butternut squash was difficult this year because we made the beer a few weeks earlier than in previous years. We are so grateful to Rebecca from The Local Beet for hooking us up with Katie at Meadowbrook Farms in Hamilton. Our twist on a pumpkin beer, we actually use squash and instead of being a pale beer with pumpkin pie spice dumped in, we brew a dark, rich porter and create our own blend of spices. We bought 90 pounds of beautiful squash from Meadowbrook Farms, put it through the shredder and added it to the mash. And for the first time this year, you can take it home in 16oz 4-packs, perfect to squirrel away for mid-winter.

Friday, October 4 – Sunday, October 6 – German Beer Tap Takeover
Speaking of squirreling away, we saved some kegs of Helles and Hefeweizen and would like to share them with you again. So for the weekend of October 4-6, we are putting them back on tap with the Märzen and Dunkel. This weekend is officially the end of Oktoberfest in Munich, so we wanted to do a little something to celebrate. Ein Prosit!

Thursday, October 10 – Dunkelweizen Release – 4-10pm
This dark German wheat beer is fermented with the same yeast we use for our Hefeweizen. But instead of the simple, light malts in that beer, we add some darker specialty malts for color and residual sweetness. Think of it as your Grandma’s banana bread but in liquid form.

Friday, October 11 – Empanada Dada – 5-9pm
EMPANADAS!!! Just so you know, the second Friday of every month is going to be Empanada Friday. If you love empanadas, and you love what Rob does, put this as a recurring event on your calendar and JOIN US!

Saturday, October 12 – Pumpkins & Pours – 7-9pm
Alice’s Table returns to the taproom with all of their creative energy and flowers. Lots of flowers! And because it is fall, pumpkins! Come make something “gourd-eous” for your home. Tickets available here.

Thursday, October 17 – Butter “UR” Biscuit – 5-9pm
You asked and we listened! Butter “UR” Biscuit is bringing their mouthwatering chicken and waffles and all their other amazing options back to the taproom. Families and dogs welcome.

Friday, October 18 – Burgers & Brews – 5-9pm
If you’ve never, you should! Bonetown Burgers is one of the best burger trucks around and we LOVE when they come to visit. Bring your empty stomach, your family, your dog and your love of Motörhead. Hail & Grill!

Sunday, October 20 – Seconds Count CPR – 10-12pm
Remember the Run With Heart fundraiser we did back in September to support the Anderson family as their teenage son Daniel recovers from open heart surgery? Those who came helped to donate nearly $200. Well, the other goal of that fundraiser was to raise awareness of being CPR ready. So, while this will not be a certification course, it will be a great opportunity to learn the things you can do to help a fellow human through a medical issue should the need arise. Make the most of your Sunday morning and learn (or refresh) your CPR and AED skills. Having someone who knew what to do is what saved Daniel’s life, so let’s get more people in the know.

Thursday, October 24 – sMAsh Release – 4-10pm
We needed to shake things up with the sMAsh beer series. For the first time, we made a dark beer, an American Brown Ale, with chocolate maize and roasted oats from Valley Malt. It is hopped with Pepite (MA-grown Nugget) and Chaos (a happy accident blend of hops, one of them being Teamaker) from Four Star Farms. So excited to taste these interesting local malts and hops in this beer!

Friday, October 25 – Speakeasy Donuts – 5-8pm
Donuts on Friday night?! That’s crazy! Speakeasy is brave enough to leave Salem during October so let’s all be brave enough to have a donut for dessert, or dinner. We don’t judge.

Saturday, October 26 – Fall Crawl 2019 – 12-10pm
Join us and our Beverly brewery collaborative for our first annual Fall Crawl! A huge thank you to Beverly Main Streets for helping to organize this event. Every brewery will have at least one food vendor from at least 2-7pm. We are lucky enough to have The Castle join us from 2-4:30pm and then, making their pop-up debut, El Jalisco. For you Beverly old timers, El Jalisco is the new, authentic Mexican restaurant on Cabot Street that opened where Celito Lindo used to be. If you haven’t been yet, come to us and check them out. It is so good! They will be onsite from 5-8pm and they are thinking of bringing tacos. TACOS!

Additionally, there will be “passports” available for you to collect stamps at every brewery. If you complete the crawl, you will earn a free commemorative t-shirt while supplies last! This is a rain or shine event. Please be prepared, be responsible and as a wise man I knew once said, mix a water in. Tag your progress on social media with #beverlybeermile.

Thursday, October 31 – Halloween
Do you really want to go to Salem? We didn’t think so. Come hang out with your Gentile Brewing family. The Run ABV run club decided they’re all wearing costumes for the run and will depart at 6:30pm. Runners and walkers are ALL welcome. No competition, no prizes, just good old fashion fun with friends, drinking beers, in costume. Or not. We are also planning to put together a curated flight of beer paired with our favorite Halloween treats. Take the fright out of the night and have a flight!
