Normally, we don’t typically write these blogs in straight chronological order, but there are so many different (and great!) events happening at the taproom in August that it seems to make the most sense to present them in order. So here we go, Gentile Brewing taproom events for August are…

Friday August 3 – Maura O’Connor Show closing – 5-8pm

We decided to extend the current gallery, From Dirt, a couple of weeks and then also throw a party to close it out. You will have another opportunity to meet the artist and our curator Sarah Lovasco, talk art, and maybe even buy art. Maura created the pieces for this show specifically to be seen at the brewery which is super exciting for us! If you have not been in to see it in its natural habitat, this event is for you.

Saturday August 4 – Phoenix Rising Pizza – 5-9pm

Phoenix Rising is a family owned and operated business out of Lowell and they sling some serious pie. They are bringing their operation down to Beverly and parking it in front of the taproom. They make a personal size (11″) thin crust Neapolitan pizza in a wood fired oven. There will be nothing better to do that night then to drink a couple beers at the taproom and whack back a couple pizzas. And yes, I said couple of pizzas, because you know, they are small and also, pizza.

Thursday August 9 – sMAsh Release – 4-10pm

Single MA Maltser: Valley Malt – Hadley, MA – 100% Vienna base malt, 10% Crystal 20
Single MA Hopyard: Four Star Farms – Northfield, MA – Rakau, Centennial, Magnum

The 100% Vienna malt base provides a nice rich base for the 10% addition of light caramel malt. For hops on this batch we chose to combine three hops we have never combined before; Rakau, Centennial and Magnum. The result is big flavors of lemon, pine and fruit.

Friday August 10 – Bonetown Burgers – 5-9pm

Bonetown Burgers returns to Beverly for ONE NIGHT ONLY! They always have a vegetarian option for all the non-animal eaters out there. For the rest of you omnivores, their other burger options are delicious, messy and packed with meaty goodness! Come join us for a cold beer, a hot burger and some good times. Also, probably tots. Always get the tots.

Saturday August 11 – Closing @ 4pm!!!
Some dear friends of ours are getting married and they approached us about having their wedding here at the taproom. Well, we had never really considered it, but we figured what the heck! If you’re interested in using the taproom for a private event get in touch with us! (events@gentilebrewing.com)

If you cannot make it to the taproom before 4pm for a beer or a growler fill, we have your beer needs covered. We’ll be pouring our beer at the third annual North Shore Bacon and Brew festival at the Raymond Borque Arena at Endicott College. The event runs from 3:30-6:30 and is usually hogs of fun. Also, keep in mind that we are open in the summer on Sundays from 12-5pm so if you miss us Saturday, you can catch us on the flip side.

Wednesday August 15 – Farm to Table Dinner – 7-10pm – Ticketed Event
Lauren from 3 Kitchens Catering approached us about doing a Farm to Table dinner at the brewery. We have always loved the idea but just need to find a suitable partner to prepare the feast. She chose Tendercrop Farm to provide the majority of the groceries and it looks like she is preparing a delicious menu!

1st Course – Local Cheese Board w/ Fresh Bread Basket A&J King Salem, MA – Farmhouse Saison

2nd Course – Farm Pick Up Salad w/ our house made herb vinaigrette – IPL

3rd Course – Buttermilk Roasted Chicken Breast w/ potato-parsnip puree and roasted root vegetables – Porter

Dessert Course – Carrot Cake w/ Cream Cheese Frosting using fresh eggs from Pierce Farm and carrots from Tendercrop – IPA

If your mouth is watering, tickets are $75 per person for this four course dinner paired with a half pint pour of each beer. Tickets can be purchased here.

Thursday August 16 – Hefeweizen Release – 4-10pm
The hefeweizen returns to the tap lines to round out the end of summer offerings and take us into the fall. Brewed in the style of the classic German wheat beer, it is light, fruity and thirst quenching!

Friday August 17 – Bon Chon – 5-9pm

Peter and family, from Bon Chon Salem, return to the taproom to share their delicious Korean-style creations! Their wings are amazing, the sauces are varied and the potstickers are sticky. Join us for some Friday night fun!

Sunday August 19 – 12-5pm – Our Last Summer Sunday
Our original idea for Sundays was to try it out during the summer and reevaluate for the fall. We have been pleasantly surprised with the turnout. We have a previously scheduled private event for Sunday August 26, so Sunday August 19 will be our last Sunday for the summer. If you have liked coming down, make sure you let your bartender know so we have good customer feedback to make our decision.

Sunday August 26 – Private Event – Closed to Public

Thursday August 30 – Kölsch Release – 4-10pm
Remember that NEIPK we released back in July? It made a delicious and beautiful DIPA but we had this Kölsch yeast kicking around. We figured to get more than one use out of it. So, we made our first attempt at a classic Kölsch-style German ale. Simple German pilsner malt and a touch of light specialty malt to help with head retention. Expect a bready maltiness balanced with German Hallertau and that beautiful Kölsch yeast shining through.

Friday August 31 – Empanada Dada – 5-9pm

Empanada Dada returns from Lowell with their food truck specializing in authentic Cuban and Spanish food. They are best known for their variety of Empanadas, Cuban sandwiches and layer bowls. Last time we got one-of-each empanadas plus a cuban sandwich. It was a good decision.
