Happy 2019! Holy cow it’s the New Year!
January is going to be a fun month at the taproom, two new beers, two casks, one new food vendor and three old favorites.
Thursday, January 3 – Beer Release: Altbier
Literally “old beer” this is the dark beer of the Düsseldorf region of Germany. Remember the Kölsch we made? This beer is fermented with the same yeast but the wort is dark instead of light. The noble hops are present but not overpowering in this 5% ABV ale/lager hybrid. Expect a copper to dark copper color somewhere between a märzen and a dunkel.
Friday, January 11 – Chez Rafiki – 5-9pm & KFC Night
Two fun things for this Friday night. Chez Rafiki out of Lowell comes to Beverly for their inaugural pop-up at the taproom. Think shawarma, falafel and all things delicious stuffed into a Mediterranean sandwich. Mouth-watering, finger-licking good food! We’re also tapping the next Kevin’s FUNky Cask (KFC). This one is our Blonde primed with apple cider and spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice, a perfect warm up for cold January weather.
Thursday, January 17 – Beer Release: Beverly Common & Cribbage Night
Brewed in the style of a California Common (AKA Steam Beer): a lager fermented at ale temperatures. Throws more fruity esters similar to an ale, but it is a lager yeast. Commercial example would be Anchor Steam from, you guessed it, California. Similar in color to the märzen. This beer debuted as a limited release last year and was designed by California native and Assistant Brewer Kevin Wulf. Kevin oversaw the scaling of the small batch to the full size system and was the lead on the brew and cellaring of this beer. Tonight is also the monthly BYOB (Bring Your Own Board) cribbage night. Saturday, January 19 – Melt Food Truck – 2-6pm
If you like gooey grilled cheese and smothered poutine, then this is food truck for you! Melt Food Truck makes their second visit to Gentile Brewing for a late-lunch-early-dinner service on Saturday. New Year’s resolutions be damned!
Friday, January 25 – Empanada Dada – 5-9pm & Cask O’ Stout
Fan favorite Empanada Dada returns with their delicious fried pockets and worth-the-wait Cuban sandwiches. And who doesn’t like thin cut fries?! Also, we are tapping a cask of our stout. If you have never had our stout from a cask, you have not lived.
Saturday, January 26 – Angry Donut – 1-4pm
Finally!!! Angry Donut returns to the taproom! After the explosion of their brick and mortar store in Newburyport (figurative, not literal), Angry Donut is back to satisfy your sweet tooth. Beer and donuts! Homer would approve.
