Ah, March. That month in New England where you are almost there, but not quite. We have some fun beers and events planned to help you slog through it!
Going to start this one with February 28 because that begins the first weekend of March for us.
Thursday, February 28 – Beer Release: Double IPA
Our semi-annual release of our 7% hop bomb. We build a rich malt base with our ale malt and some medium caramel malt. Then we use Massachusetts-grown Cascade and Centennial from Four Star Farms in Northfield, MA for the hops. A malt-forward IPA with huge flavors and aromas of lemon, pine and citrus.
This is also the beginning of our 3rd Anniversary celebration weekend and the one-year anniversary run of Run ABV, the weekly Gentile Run/Walk Club. Oh and Flying Saucer will be handing out samples of their pizza starting around 7pm to promote the start of delivery service to the taproom on Thursdays.
Friday, March 1 – Tex Mex Eats – 6-9 pm
It has been a while since we have had Tex Mex Eats at the taproom. To refresh your stomach memory, Amanda makes AMAZING homemade tamales and this southern Texas staple called Frito Pie. Look it up. Drool. And then plan to come in for some.
Saturday, March 2 – Official 3rd Anniversary Party – Noon – 10pm
A lot to unpack here.
Noon: Beer Release – Spicy Vienna Lager – We were inspired by Negro Modelo, which is actually the Mexican version of a Vienna lager, and we dry-peppered it with cascabel and cayenne peppers. It has the smooth flavors of a classic amber lager with the KICK of spicy peppers. It gets ya right heyah!
1pm: Tongue-in-cheek Grand Opening Celebration with Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce. Big ribbon, oversized safety scissors, dignitaries, press. Some smiles, everyone shakes hands. Enter taproom and have a beer.
2-6pm: Empanada Dada. Rob returns with his mouth-watering Empanadas and Cuban Sandwiches. Fries will be weather dependent.
Sunday, March 3 – Brunch with 3Kitchens Catering – 12-3pm
Lauren returns with her amazing brunch menu. This is the same event we had to cancel last month due to, shall we say, an unexpected turn of events…
Friday, March 8 – Chive Soups and Stews – 5-9pm
Local favorite Chive Catering is coming to the taproom to serve some of their delicious soups, stews and homemade bread. Sounds like the perfect end to a late-winter week.
Thursday, March 14 – Beer Release: Irish Red
We release our Irish Red to kick off St. Patrick’s Day weekend. It is a malt-forward Irish ale balanced with East Kent Golding hops. To achieve the red color we use some Chilean caramel malts and a touch of black malt. I think we almost got that elusive red color this year!
Commemorative Gentile St. Patrick’s Day 2019 imperial pint glasses will be available for sale and use at the taproom while supplies last.
Friday, March 15 – Bird’s Nest Italian Street Food – 5-9pm
Since you all will be having boiled dinner soon, we figured a little bit of Italian should be on our menu here to break it up. Join us for Bird’s Nest’s first pop-up at the taproom! They make a fried manicotti which sounds pretty amazing.
Saturday, March 16 – Angry Donut – 1-4pm
We have talked about Angry Donut many times. We know it’s good, you know it’s good. Come have a donut and a beer. We won’t judge. Also, the first of two casks of stout will be tapped to celebrate being Irish for the weekend! Cask stout and donuts? Yup.
Sunday, March 17 – Gloria’s Deli – 12-4pm *Cash Only*
Our favorite local deli is going to join us in the taproom to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Scott will be serving up corned beef sandwiches. There will also be chips and pickles. Oh, and our stout on cask. It should be real good craic.
Thursday, March 21 – Cribbage Night – Starts at 5pm
Every Thursday, aside from the ABV Run Club which departs at 6:30, we have a BYOB Cribbage night that starts at 5pm. Local players congregate to play a few rounds and share a few rounds. If you have never played before, that is okay! Come down and learn! And of course have a beer or two.
Friday, March 22 – Chez Rafiki Mediterranean Food Truck – 5-9pm
Chez Rafiki returns with falafel and shawarma galore. All fillings can be served as a sandwich or a salad and it is all delicious!
Saturday, March 23 – Fat Boyfriend Pretzels – 2-7pm
Fat Boyfriend is returning to the taproom with their delicious pretzels for a Saturday afternoon snack. Plain, jalapeño cheddar and cinnamon sugar were the options last time. They also did pretzel melts. PRETZEL MELTS!!!
We are also releasing the next round of Di⋅ver⋅gent cans starting at 2pm. We decided to make Recipe #14 again since it came out so nice and we didn’t package as much of it as we wanted. And this time we made more! 30% wheat malt and some flaked oats and Citra, Mosaic and El Dorado hops.
Saturday, March 30 – Bird’s Nest – 2-6pm
Bird’s Nest is returning for Saturday late lunch/early dinner service. If you can’t make the Friday earlier in the month, you get another chance. Or, if you want the deep-fried manicotti again, it will be here.
